Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of shape do you have to be in to take part in hikes?
As with all physical activities some steps should be taken to get in
shape. The best way to get fit for hiking is by walking, although any
aerobic exercise will help. Doing 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day,
three or four times a week, will get you in great shape for most hikes. The
distance and difficulty of all our hikes are mentioned in the newsletter.
Most hikes can be done by anyone in relatively good shape.
What are the ages of the women who hike, bike and kayak with
the group?
Women of ALL AGES have joined us over the years. Some of our most
enthusiastic participants have been ladies over sixty years old! Never
too old!
How do I register for a "Lead On" activity?
Every two months or so a newsletter is mailed to ladies on our mailing
list. Each newsletter has a registration form attached. You may also
choose to register on line. If you'd
like to be on our mailing list please contact
me at this website.
Do I need special gear for day hikes?
I recommend some basic equipment for day hikes. A good pair of athletic
sneakers are fine on short hikes. If you plan to hike often, I suggest
sturdy boots. Hiking boots should have good ankle support, lug soles
and most importantly, they should fit comfortably. You'll also need
a day pack to carry water and other gear.
